Business travelers heading to Thailand face the same TDAC requirements as tourists, but their trips often involve different visa types, corporate accommodations, and tighter schedules. This guide covers everything business travelers need to know about the Thailand Digital Arrival Card, including tips for frequent visitors, corporate group registrations, and how to handle common business travel scenarios.
Do Business Travelers Need the TDAC?
Yes. The TDAC is mandatory for all non-Thai nationals entering Thailand, regardless of the purpose of their visit. This includes business travelers holding:
- Non-Immigrant B visas (business visa)
- Non-Immigrant IB visas (investment and business)
- Visa exemption (for short business trips from eligible countries)
- Transit visas
- Work permit holders re-entering Thailand
- APEC Business Travel Card holders
The TDAC is not a visa and does not replace any visa requirement. It is a separate pre-arrival registration that you must complete in addition to having the correct visa or entry permission.

Common Business Travel Scenarios
Short Business Trip (1-7 Days)
For short trips such as meetings, conferences, or trade shows, most business travelers from eligible countries enter under the visa exemption program, which allows stays of up to 60 days. You still need to complete the TDAC before arriving.
For the accommodation section, enter the address of your hotel. If you are attending a conference at a specific venue, you still enter your hotel address – not the conference venue address.
Multi-City Business Tour
If your business trip includes multiple Thai cities (e.g., Bangkok, then Chiang Mai, then Phuket), enter the address of your first hotel in the TDAC. You do not need to update the TDAC if you change hotels within Thailand.
Frequent Business Travelers
If you travel to Thailand regularly for business, you must submit a new TDAC for every entry. Each TDAC is valid for a single entry only. While this may seem repetitive for frequent visitors, the process is quick once you are familiar with the form – most business travelers complete it in under 10 minutes.
Tip: Save your standard information (passport details, company address, usual hotel) in a document on your phone or computer. This makes filling out the TDAC faster for each trip.
Corporate Group Travel
When a team of business colleagues travels to Thailand together, the TDAC system’s group registration feature is invaluable. One person can submit TDAC forms for the entire group in a single session, provided they have everyone’s passport and travel details.
Staying at Corporate Housing
If your company has a corporate apartment or housing in Thailand, enter that address in the accommodation section. Select “Private Residence” or “Other” as the accommodation type, and enter the full address including province, district, and postal code.
Visa Considerations for Business Travelers
Non-Immigrant B Visa
The standard business visa for Thailand. It allows stays of up to 90 days and can be extended at Thai immigration offices. You must complete the TDAC every time you enter Thailand on this visa.
Visa Exemption for Business
Citizens of over 60 countries can enter Thailand for short business visits without a visa. The allowed stay is up to 60 days. Note that visa exemption is for short business activities such as meetings and conferences – it does not authorize employment or long-term work.
Work Permit Holders
If you hold a Thai work permit and leave the country, you must complete a new TDAC when you re-enter Thailand. If you have a valid re-entry permit, check with immigration whether the TDAC is still required for your specific situation.
APEC Business Travel Card
Holdes of the APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) enjoy streamlined entry to participating economies, including Thailand. However, you must still complete the TDAC before arriving in Thailand.
Tips for Business Travelers
- Complete the TDAC early: Do not leave it to the last minute. Submit your TDAC at least 24 hours before your flight to allow time for any corrections.
- Keep your passport details handy: Store a digital copy of your passport information page on your phone for quick reference.
- Save your hotel confirmation: Have your hotel booking confirmation accessible on your phone or email for the accommodation address fields.
- Use the update function: If your flight changes or you switch hotels before departure, update your TDAC rather than submitting a new form.
- Book airport lounge Wi-Fi: If you forget to complete the TDAC before your trip, airport lounges typically have reliable Wi-Fi for last-minute submissions.
- Prepare for group travel: If traveling with colleagues, collect everyone’s passport details in advance and use the group registration feature.
TDAC and the 90-Day Report
Foreign nationals staying in Thailand for more than 90 days must notify immigration of their current address every 90 days. This is a separate requirement from the TDAC. However, the TDAC may be referenced during your 90-day report, so ensure your accommodation information is accurate.
Long-term business residents should note that the TDAC is for entry only – it does not replace the 90-day reporting requirement, the work permit renewal process, or any other ongoing immigration obligations.
What If Your Plans Change?
Business trips are often subject to last-minute changes. Here is how to handle common scenarios:
- Flight rescheduled: Update your TDAC with the new flight number and arrival date using the “Update Arrival Card” function
- Hotel changed: Update the accommodation details on your existing TDAC
- Trip cancelled: No action needed – an unused TDAC simply expires
- Different passport used: If you need to use a different passport (e.g., a new one), submit a new TDAC with the new passport details
Do I need a business visa to complete the TDAC?
No. The TDAC is separate from your visa. You can complete the TDAC regardless of your visa type. However, you still need the appropriate visa or entry permission to enter Thailand – the TDAC alone is not sufficient.
Can my company’s travel department submit the TDAC for me?
Yes. The TDAC system allows someone else to submit the form on your behalf, including a corporate travel department or travel agent. They will need your passport details and travel information.
I travel to Thailand every month. Do I need a new TDAC each time?
Yes. Each TDAC is valid for a single entry only. You must submit a new TDAC for every trip to Thailand, even if you travel frequently. The process becomes quick once you are familiar with the form.
Can I complete the TDAC while at the airport?
Yes, as long as you have internet access. Many business travelers complete the TDAC at the airport using Wi-Fi. However, we recommend completing it at least 24 hours before your flight to avoid any last-minute issues.
